10 Deserts Project Steering Committee elects new deputy chair

December 17, 2019

Last week the 10 Deserts Project steering committee came together in Perth for two days (10-11 December).  The committee comprises members from each of our seven Indigenous project partner organisations.  The last meeting of  2019 focused on reviewing project activities and governance matters.   The committee also elected a new deputy chair – Peter Murray.  Peter replaces Benjamin Kenny in the role.

Peter is the ceo of Yanunijarra Aboriginal Corporation that managers the Warlu Jilaja Jumu Indigenous Protect Area and Ngurrara working on country ranger programs. He is also part of the Walmajarri group on Ngurrara part A of the Great Sandy Desert and assists communities to build capacity to function in a remote and isolated area.

We would like to thank Benjamin Kenny for all of his hard work as deputy chair of the committee over the year and congratulate Peter on taking over the role.

The committee wrapped up the meeting by planning a busy schedule for 2020!
